Health School Whole Child is an extended learning (after school and summer) opportunity program for students in grades 2nd through 5th. The components of the program include:
Character Building
To improve academic achievement and school climate the students will participate in various character education activities. (Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Perseverance, Courtesy, Judgment, Confidence & Citizenship)
Gardening
Teaches students how to grow their own food, live healthier lives and take care of the environment.
Entrepreneurship
The program teaches the basic of good financial decision making and some of the basic lessons of starting a business
Golf
The students will be taught the basic techniques of body positioning, putting, chipping, pitching and full swing.
Tennis
The students will be taught ground strokes, serving, volleying and running/agility.
Cooking and Etiquette
The students will learn about basic nutrition, food and kitchen safety, food preparation and physical activity. Hands-on activities reinforce math, reading and science objectives.
Arts & Crafts
The Arts & Crafts program will offer a wide variety of fine arts and crafts to stimulate creativity and social development.
Movie Making
Using iMovie or Windows Movie Maker, students will capture video clips and photos and apply basic editing such as text captions and transitions, and then share the finished products.
Music Production
Students will learn about recording and mixing music as they interact with GarageBand, a virtual audio workstation.
Photography
The photography program encourages children to photograph their world as they see it through their eyes.
Service Learning
Through service-learning, the campers will use what they learn during the camp to solve real-life problems.
Weekly Field Trip
Each week of the program the students will take a field trip that coincides with the camp experiences.
